pomimo posiadanego karnetu, z powodów - kurwa ich wszystkich mać - zawodowych, moja obecność ograniczona została niestety tylko do soboty. ubolewam nad tym mocno, bo przeszli mi koło nosa The Raconteurs i Massive Attack, nie wspominając o kilku nie mniej ciekawych zjawiskach, takich jak Goldfrapp, Editors, czy Rosin Murphy. tak, czy inaczej obecność na choć jednym dniu tegorocznego open’era uznałem za punkt honoru i dla Interpol‘a i Erykah Badu dokonałem swojej obecności.

co do kwestii muzycznych, czy się komuś podobało czy nie, jest to sprawa tak indywidualna, że szkoda się wypowiadać. powiem tylko, że Interpol‘e scenicznymi zwierzami nie są, a ich występ w świetle słonecznym zaprezentował się słabo. bezdyskusyjnym jest fakt, iż koncert wieczoru dał Gentleman.

wracając do tematu, kto dał prawo ochraniać taką imprezę ludziom rodem z dyskotekowych bramek? oto, w bramce wejściowej, przywitał mnie człowiek o bicepsie jak lodówka, który z uśmiechem i serdecznością sprawdził plombę opaski i na tym skończyła się serdeczność. potem zaczął się cyrk. następny gość, wyraźnie podjarany swoją rolą, czarnymi rękawicami, ciężkimi butami i, zapewne, ogólnym poczuciem własnej zajebistości zajął się przeszukiwaniem kieszeni i torby. “Torba!”, “Otwierać!”, komendy w pełni adekwatne do klimatu tego festiwalu, przyznacie sami. jeszcze na koniec “Dobra! Następny!”. super wstępniak. całe szczęście pod main stage’em pojawiłem się jakieś 30 minut przed Interpol‘em, to zapomniałem o sprawie i ogólnie się wpasowałem w klimat i ludzi.

gdzieś w okolicach Sex Pistols zaczął się ziąb. jednak pierogi i kawa za 3 kupony każde pomogły.

nie wiem, czyim pomysłem było ustalenie występu eryki na pierwszym miejscu, a Cool Kids of Death na końcu. bynajmniej 6-cio godzinne spóźnienie tej pierwszej było jak najbardziej mądre. dzień zwieńczony wykonawcą z najwyższej półki był dobrym dniem.

po koncercie eryki rozpoczął się czas powrotu. powrót miał być w zamierzeniu jak najbardziej szybki i bezstresowy. w końcu, wydawałoby się, wieloletnie doświadczenie organizatorów miało zaowocować sprawnym przeprowadzeniem ewakuacji ludzi z lotniska. jednak tu wyszła największa lipa wieczoru i, kto wie, czy nie największa lipa festiwalu.

do akcji wkroczyli superinteligentni panowie ochroniarze, którzy zabawiając się w strażaków miejskich postanowili zabawić się w pokierowanie wielotysięcznym tłumem w powrocie z babich dołów. oczywiście prym wiódł pajac (przez kolegów z branży zwany “liskiem”), który przeszukiwał mnie na bramce. gość mocno nagrzany na darcie ryja i ogólne emanowanie własną osobą nieświadomie czynił wyjątkową chałę. doszło w pewnym momencie, że wyciągnął ręce do człowieka, który próbował przejść bliżej przystanku autobusów, a na widok gościa pchającego się do autobusu wyciągnął pałę (a jakże). poza tym, jego koledzy, nie mniej twórczy w swoich poczynaniach, robili chaos większy niż był. co niektórzy próbowali podkreślić swoją dominację niemniej agresywnym zachowaniem i darciem ryja przez megafon.

ostatecznie nie wiem jak się zakończyła ta impreza, bo jeden ze strażaków miejskich, którzy w końcu dojechali pod babie doły zlitował się nad grupą ludzi, wśród których stałem i zatrzymał nam pod nosem autobus.

współczucie tym, którzy zostali…

skomentujcie to sobie sami. mi się nie chce. jedyny pozytyw, to to, że dzięki 1,5 godziny stania w tłumie było mi ciepło.

Location was Kathleen’s biggest inspiration for that caption… she says, “I’m thrilled to be chosen as the photo caption winner. I live in Florida, and we’re in Hurricane season 6 months of the year. The ridiculousness of the photo reminded me of some of the lame plans people have to ‘ride out a storm,’ and the equally absurd responses to a disaster that we have all seen FEMA come up with in the past.”

We’re a little behind on our t-shirt distribution plans (it’s harder than we thought to come up with a design we all like)… but we’ll have some good swag on it’s way to all our winners soon! Promise!

Our newest “Caption this” pic was sent in by Tamie Pryor of Oswego, Illinois. That’s Tamie and her son William in the pic above with the actual can of SpaghettiOs® A to Z’s that contained that creepy combination of pasta letters.

They were out of the boring old round noodles at the store, so she bought a can of the alphabet shapes. William doesn’t know what the word said by the way… Mom just told him that the noodles spelled “something.”

Her friends asked if she staged the picture by spelling out “DIE” on her own, but Tamie says, “Why would I choose THAT word?” Indeed in her iReport submission Tamie asks, “Why couldn’t it have [spelled out] something like “love” or “you just won $1 million?”

It could be worth some fun swag for you if you can think of a good caption for Tamie’s “noodles of doom.”

MOVIE REVIEW: ‘Henry Poole Is Here’
If, like the title character in this odd little film, you cringe at the mention of the word “miracle,” “Henry Poole Is Here” is not for you. This is a movie with a pointed message about the importance of having faith, in other people as well as in a higher power, and audiences open to that concept will enjoy the film a lot more than those who are as cynical as its hero.
